Annette Funicello danced in an amateur show in Fullerton, California in Swan Lake when Walt Disney found her. The teenager was just thirteen at that time. Funicello did not get an audition when she joined the Mickey Mouse Club cast in the very first season of the show which was to the Mickey Mouse Club colleagues' displeasure.
