The father of her mother, who is Argentinan of Scottish as well as English heritage is her mother. She has a Spanish and English-speaking mother was her mother. Four of her siblings belong to her father's previous marriage. The family was initially of Buenos Aires, but moved to Victoria when she was 6. Taylor-Joy says the move into London was difficult and she did not study English in order to prevent returning to Argentina. The school she attended had to be changed from Northlands in order to attend Hill House. She then enrolled at Queen's Gate School and studied ballet and performed in school's plays. At 16, she quit school to focus on acting full time. The dream of Taylor-Joy to become an actress professionally started at a young age.
